The HS3 is a compact two-way desktop studio monitor pair: the left cabinet holds a class-D amplifier rated 26 W + 26 W (dynamic, 6 Ω) and feeds the passive right cabinet over a supplied speaker cable. Each cabinet has a 3.5-inch cone woofer and 0.75-inch dome tweeter.

Channel configuration
Stereo pair: one active (powered) left speaker with the built-in amplifier and one passive right speaker
Packaged and sold as a pair. The right speaker is fed from the left speaker's SPEAKER OUTPUT over the supplied speaker cable; one amplifier drives both speakers.
26 W + 26 W (dynamic, 6 Ω); 20 W + 20 W (THD 0.1%, 1 kHz, 6 Ω)
Manufacturer amplifier ratings per channel into a 6-ohm load, from the single amplifier in the active left speaker. The dynamic figure is not continuous power; the 20 W figure is at 0.1% THD at 1 kHz. Not a loudness or mains-consumption figure.
Built-in mains power in the active left speaker with an attached power cord; 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz depending on area of purchase
Yamaha states the plug shape differs by locale, so UK/Ireland and US units ship with different plugs. Although the unit works between 100 and 240 V, Yamaha says to use it at the supply voltage indicated on its rear panel because limiter settings vary with voltage; do not assume cross-region use. The passive right speaker has no mains connection.
