Visible inputs
Every scored input, cap and category weight is shown.
HomeVersion 1.0.0 turns sourced manufacturer specifications into an inspectable comparison. It is a decision aid, not a laboratory rating or a claim of objective product quality.
Every scored input, cap and category weight is shown.
Missing evidence never becomes zero, false or an implied failure.
A weighted category without comparable data cannot produce a winner.
Normalization
40% published peak brightness (capped at 3,000 nits) + 35% pixel density (scaled from 300–500 ppi) + 25% maximum adaptive refresh rate (capped at 120Hz).
Peak-brightness figures can use different manufacturer test windows and are not treated as independent measurements.
25% native telephoto reach (capped at 5x) + 15% optical-quality reach (capped at 10x) + 35% published pro workflows (four-item ceiling: Log, RAW, external recording and genlock) + 5% 8K availability + 20% native rear-camera count (capped at four).
This measures published hardware and workflow coverage. Frame-rate modes are excluded because manufacturers classify normal and slow-motion capture differently. It does not claim to measure photo or video quality.
65% claimed local-video duration (capped at 35 hours) + 35% claimed charge percentage per minute (capped at 2.5).
Both inputs are manufacturer up-to claims. Different test protocols make the resulting cross-brand score provisional.
No score until comparable CPU, GPU and sustained-load results exist under a shared independent protocol.
Chip names and generation-over-generation marketing percentages are deliberately insufficient.
Published model-specific software-support duration, normalized against a seven-year ceiling.
A brand’s historical behaviour is not converted into a guarantee. Missing fixed commitments remain unknown.
Personal match
match = Σ(priority × category score) ÷ Σ(priority)
Priorities range from Ignore (0) to Critical (3). Deal-breakers are evaluated separately and never secretly subtract points.
Price model
equivalent price(B) = price(A) × score(B) ÷ score(A)
This is score-per-pound equivalence, not a declaration that a product is rational for every buyer. MSRP is labelled as a reference price and never disguised as a live offer.
